CTE Pathways

Career and technical education (CTE) provides students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and develop skills they will use throughout their careers. CTE prepares students for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies, and makes academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context. CTE is a great way for students to explore a variety of career options early and earn industry certifications prior to graduation. KCAA offers three CTE pathways:

Digital Media and Communications

Audio video production involves creating, recording, editing, and producing movies, TV shows, videos, and live events. It’s a blend of creative and technical work that brings stories and events to life.

Graphic Design

Graphic design is the craft of planning and creating visual content to communicate ideas and messages. Graphic design is everyone you look in the digital age — from billboards to cereal boxes to mobile apps.

Technical Theatre

Technical theatre involves all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating a live theatre production. This includes everything from lighting and sound to set construction, choreography, and costume design.
