Dear Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy Community,
We hope you are enjoying your summer! The primary purpose of this letter is to update you on the principalship for the 2023-2024 school year.
As previously shared, we are very grateful for the positive impact that Principal Pete Castillo has made in the lives of our KCAA students and we will forever be indebted for his commitment to instructional excellence and sincere love for the KCAA community. Please join us in honoring his extraordinary service to students, staff, and the community.
Due to the timing of this announcement and the need to plan for the upcoming school year, we are excited to announce that Mr. Chuck Puga has been appointed as the Interim Principal to launch the 2023-2024 school year. Chuck Puga recently served as the Principal of Smoky Hill High School in Aurora Colorado from 2015 – 2022, and has worked in education since 1989. He graduated from The Colorado College in 1989 with a degree in History and a minor in Education, and received his Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision in 1996. Chuck was a classroom teacher for 15 years at the middle school and high school levels and has been in public school administration for 18 years with the last 16 as a high school principal. He was honored as the Colorado High School Principal of the Year in 2020. He is now teaching at Regis University in Denver as well as working as a NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals) Facilitator for the New Principals Network nationwide. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Chuck Puga, as our Interim Principal at KCAA for the 2023-2024 school year!
In the upcoming school year, we will continue to work with the community to engage in the interview process for the next long-term principal. Mr. Puga may be considered as a candidate for the long term role. We know this transition may be difficult for staff, students, and families alike, but we also know that this approach is the best option in creating an opportunity for stakeholder voice, given that the school year has ended.

Tal como les informamos antes, agradecemos el impacto positivo que ha tenido el director Pete Castillo en la vida de nuestros estudiantes en KCAA y siempre estaremos en deuda con él por su compromiso a la excelencia docente y el sincero cariño por la comunidad de KCAA. Acompáñennos a honrar su extraordinario servicio a los estudiantes, miembros del personal y la comunidad.
Debido fecha de este anuncio y a la necesidad de planear el próximo año escolar, nos complace anunciar que ha designado al señor Chuck Puga como director interino para abrir el año escolar 2023-2024. Chuck Puga recientemente se desempeñó como director de la Escuela Preparatoria Smoky Hill en Aurora, Colorado, desde 2015 hasta 2022, y ha trabajado en la educación desde 1989. Se graduó en The Colorado College en 1989 con un grado en Historia y una mención en Educación, y recibió su maestría en Administración y Supervisión en 1996. Chuck fue maestro de salón de clases durante 15 años a nivel de secundaria y preparatoria y ha estado en la administración de escuelas públicas durante 18 años, los últimos 16 de ellos como director de escuela preparatoria. Do thời điểm của thông báo này và nhu cầu cần lập kế hoạch cho năm học tới, chúng tôi xin vui mừng thông báo thầy Chuck Puga đã được bổ nhiệm làm Hiệu trưởng Lâm thời vào đầu năm học 2023-2024. Gần đây, thầy Chuck Puga giữ chức vụ Hiệu trưởng của Trường Trung học Phổ thông Smoky Hill tại Aurora, Colorado từ năm 2015-2022, và đã làm việc trong ngành giáo dục từ năm 1989. Chúng tôi biết rằng quá trình chuyển tiếp này có thể khó khăn đối với đội ngũ nhân viên, học sinh và các gia đình, nhưng chúng tôi cũng biết rằng phương thức này là cách tốt nhất để tạo cơ hội cho các bên có lợi ích liên quan được góp tiếng nói, khi mà năm học đã kết thúc.
