What is GEAR UP?
GEAR UP is a program that helps you succeed as a student.  It starts in the 7th grade and follows you through your 12th grade year, preparing you to be successful and ready for college.

What does GEAR UP do?
GEAR UP will help you succeed in school, but only if you want to. GEAR UP offers academic enrichment, mentoring, family and college awareness activities.

The Arapahoe House Adolescent & Family Services prevention and treatment program is designed to help adolescents, families and children who are experiencing problems due to alcohol and/or drugs and mental health issues. Services reflect the belief that substance abuse is caused by a variety of factors and that a holistic approach to treatment that includes the family is essential to promote lifestyle changes in teenagers and children.

Mission Statement

The mission of AVID is to ensure that all students, especially middle-performing students, will:succeed in the most rigorous curriculum;enter the mainstream activities of the school;increase their enrollment in four-year colleges;and become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society.

What is Educational Talent Search?
Educational Talent Search is a federally funded program that identifies and serves individuals interested in post secondary education or vocational training. Guidance activities are offered on various topics such as self-exploration, career decisions, financial aid application, and college registration. The goal of the program is for students to seek to further their education, and to be better prepared due to the services provided.
 
Services Provided:
  • Career guidance and counseling: interest and apptitude testing, and researching career information to make better choices.
  • Academic counseling: educational planning, (SEOP), study skills, time management, learning styles, ACT preparation, and tutoring.
  • Decision making: financial planning, personal introspection, values clarification.
  • Visiting various college campuses throughout the state.
